This set of four leaf-shaped coasters are made from salvaged Maine and Pennsylvania slate from local rooftops and make a super eco-friendly fashion statement. The protective backing on these slate coasters is made of 100% recycled plastic bottles. These organic coasters are hand-made, so each one will be slightly different. This raw cut works beautifully with the leaf shape and natural black slate material.
These slate coasters are already packaged for gifting, and are a perfect gift idea for drinkers, techies and environment-lovers. They are wrapped in twine with label listing materials included. The coaster set also comes with a stick of soapstone chalk, useful for writing names or notes directly on the slate. Cleaning is done easily with a cloth and warm soapy water.
The slate Leaf Coaster is part of design studio SimplyNu's Spring/Summer 2012 collection. They wanted an artisan, recycled coaster set that can be stacked at angles for a decorative effect. Unlike paper and cork coasters, these slate drink coasters can last indefinitely. The reclaimed black slate used is originally from circa 1900, taking on a beautiful patina and deep color.
Because these coasters are handmade, each will have slight variations in size, shape and color.
